# Vercel, Render and Railway alternatives: Toupas compared

Looking for an alternative to Vercel, Render or Railway? All three are good products, used by serious teams. So why would you pick something else?

Mostly, it depends on who's doing the work. Those three are built for developers. Toupas is built for people who made something, perhaps with a coding agent, and just want a link without learning how to deploy it. Here's how they compare. We make Toupas, so weigh this accordingly; we've linked our sources so you can check them. Prices and terms were checked on 31 October 2026, and they change.

## At a glance

| | Toupas | Vercel | Render | Railway |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| **Best at** | Getting an app live without learning hosting | Next.js and frontend sites | General apps, with a dashboard | Flexible apps, paying for what you use |
| **Free option** | 30 days per app | Hobby: personal, non-commercial use | Free static sites; free servers that sleep | One-time $5 trial credit |
| **Cheapest paid** | $0.74 website or $1.49 app (₹59 or ₹119 + GST) a month | $20 per developer a month | About $13 a month for a small app and database | $5 a month, with $5 of usage included |
| **Billing** | Fixed monthly plan | Plan plus usage | Per service | Usage based |
| **Build from ChatGPT or Claude** | Yes | Not the main focus | Not the main focus | Not the main focus |

The last row refers to adding a host to a chat app and getting websites or apps with saved data from a conversation, without a coding tool. The landscape changes quickly, so check if this matters to you.

## Vercel

Vercel is excellent for websites and Next.js, the framework it created. It's fast, and it's very polished for teams.

The catch for many people is the free plan. Vercel says it's [restricted to non-commercial personal use](https://vercel.com/docs/limits/fair-use-guidelines#commercial-usage), and it counts things like advertising a product or service as commercial. So a site for your business needs the Pro plan, at [$20 per developer seat a month](https://vercel.com/docs/plans/hobby).

**Choose Vercel if** you're building with Next.js, need its global speed, or work on a development team.

## Render

Render is a dependable all-rounder with a clear dashboard. It's a natural step for developers who are comfortable connecting a code repository and choosing settings.

It has free options, with limits. [Render's docs say](https://render.com/docs/free) a free server sleeps after 15 minutes without traffic and takes about a minute to wake up, and free databases expire after 30 days. Render estimates that an always-on small server and database [typically ran about $13 a month](https://render.com/articles/how-much-does-cloud-application-hosting-cost-for-small-businesses) before bandwidth and storage growth. For that, you get more memory than Toupas's starting plan.

**Choose Render if** your app needs more power, or free static hosting is all you need.

## Railway

Railway is flexible and popular with developers, and you pay for what your app uses. [Its Hobby plan](https://docs.railway.com/pricing/plans) is $5 a month and includes $5 of usage, with memory priced at $10 per GB a month.

For a small, steady app, that can be great value. The trade-off is that your bill depends on use, so you need to keep an eye on it.

**Choose Railway if** you're comfortable with hosting concepts, and you want to run several connected services.

## Toupas

With Toupas, you ask your coding agent or your chat to make the app live. Toupas works out how the app runs, and it only asks you what it can't work out itself. A database and file storage are part of it, and the words stay plain.

It's also priced for small apps, and one plan covers all the apps in your account. In rupees, you can pay by card or UPI.

Here's where it's not the best choice:

- **It starts small.** The App plan has 128 MB of memory and shares half a CPU. You can add memory for [a monthly fee](/pricing), but a demanding app will be better off elsewhere.
- **It's new.** The others have far longer track records. Toupas doesn't have the choice of regions or the automatic scaling they've built up.
- **Apps with their own server need Docker Desktop on your computer**, because that's where they're prepared. The others build in their own cloud, from your code repository.
- **It doesn't offer test versions yet**, such as a private preview link for each change.

**Choose Toupas if** you don't want to learn hosting, you're building something small, or you want to work from a chat or coding agent.

## So which should you pick?

- A company site on Next.js, with a dev team: **Vercel**
- A personal, non-commercial site: **Vercel's Hobby plan** or **Render's free static hosting**, both free
- An app that needs real memory, and you're comfortable with hosting: **Render** or **Railway**
- A small app or site that you just want live, particularly one built by an AI: **[Toupas](/agents)**

Whichever you try first, you're not locked in. A Toupas app is your own code and a standard Postgres database, so you can take it elsewhere.
